Dream of Mine

“Dream of Mine”
1/2/04
Words: Walter Koning

I keep getting caught up in this dream of mine

Two kids walking down the street
Without fear in their eyes

In this dream of mine

Political authorities doing things for what’s right
Not just for the majority

In this dream of mine

Inner city kids will have opportunities
In education, sports, life and even spelling bees

In this dream of mine
In this dream of mine

Someday you’ll look back on today
As I remember the time
I knew that tall kid Walter
When he was in his prime
Writing poems in a book
Before he made headlines

I keep getting caught up in this dream of mine
In this dream of mine

Litter in the streets begone
Corruption in the heat begone
Homelessness on the streets begone
Pollution of the streams begone
Oil only burning cars begone
Oppression begone
Violence begone
Boredom begone
Loneliness begone
Weapons begone
Hostility begone

I keep getting caught up in this dream of mine
In this dream of mine
In this dream of mine

Whatchu gonna do
What can you do
Whatchu gonna do
Whatchu gonna do
